Shalom Television is one of the prominent religious TV channels in Kerala, India. Catering to a mass Catholic Christian Community, the channel broadcasts religious-based programs 24/7. In 1990’s, the channel had a humble beginning as a programming block on Asianet. However, in 2005, the channel received a broadcasting license, and started functioning on its own. Today, the channel has expanded its operations to North America’s, and Europe, apart from India.
The massive shift towards High Definition (HD) technologies has inspired prayer groups, as well as religious broadcasters like Shalom TV to consider HD adoption. Along with this adoption, the main challenge was upgrading their facilities to meet this requirement. After a rigorous scrutiny, RGB Broadcasting was awarded the project.
RGB’s scope of work included migration to the new playout, without affecting the workflow, and setting up an HD compliant infrastructure.
Inputs and efforts from the RGB team, has helped the Shalom TV to make a positive difference to their business. Today, the Shalom TV viewers are enjoying 5 times picture clarity than the Standard Definition TV (SDTV), and brilliant acoustics in 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound.
